Rebuilding Physical Energy

Many years ago when I first got married, I started putting on a ton of extra weight. Back then I always teased that it was my wife’s good cooking but in hindsight, it wasn’t her cooking at all.

If I had just been overweight it would have been one thing, but I had absolutely no energy either. I felt so sluggish that I drank coffee all day “just to keep my heart going” I always joked.

It was right about this time that I walked into a health store asking about a product that would restore my energy. The store owner made a couple suggestions but ultimately started talking to me about what each of my daily meals consisted of.

Most my meals varied greatly, except for breakfast. I ate prepackaged waffles every single morning – glazed with that delicious Canadian maple syrup – washed down with a couple large cups of brewed coffee.

He immediately told me to find something more nutritious to eat for breakfast instead. Not only were those waffles void of 90% of the nutrition my body badly needed, but the syrup on top were sugar shots up my veins. As in – I wasn’t just letting my immune system die off – I was also making myself fat as well.

So – upon extensive research – I decided it was time to have shakes for breakfast instead. Thanks to a recommendation by a friend, I ended up chilling out a few hundred dollars on the best smoothie blender on the market at the time. Sure it wasn’t cheap, but it definitely was worth every penny.

To get to the point, here is how I got my physical energy back:

  1. I replaced my unhealthy breakfast with a healthy fruit/vegetable shake. At first I felt the need to add protein powder but because I didn’t work physically at the time, I quickly realized I would do just fine without it.
Sure I was getting plenty of fruit sugar intake, but it wasn’t processed sugar. Meaning my body processed it a lot better. Also, instead of dead carbs, I got in all the nutrition my body needed to function. This alone made a huge difference in my energy level!
  2. Next I got back to taking multivitamins. Sure I was getting more nutrition then ever with those shakes, but I wanted more. I wanted to make sure my body got all the vitamins and calciums it needed to perform at optimum levels.
On top of the multivitamins I took vitamin B12. I would switch this off with B-complex (which is ultimately a pill with all the necessary B vitamins) but ultimately just made sure I had plenty of B12 in my system. B12 not only affects your mood, but is a huge energy and concentration booster as well.
  3. Doing those two things made a huge difference. I started feeling better, had more energy, and was able to focus better for extended periods of time. Now that I felt great, I decided it was time to look great as well. So I started going for walks in the evenings. Some days I would even go for a run. Believe it or not, 8 months later I was in the best shape of my life without ever hitting the gym. The best part? I felt GREAT at the same time.

Need more energy to get you through the day? Revisit each of the above steps in your life. I think you will be surprised how much you can improve on your health, energy, and looks just by doing those three steps.

Secret to Looking Young

Adults hate aging. This is true for men as well as women. Actually, this is probably more true for women.

Aging starts to make us aging-gracefullyfeel irrelevant. It makes us feel as if we’re slowly getting replaced. This is partially because we are indeed getting replaced.

We’re not just getting replaced because our knowledge and understanding of the world us is getting outdated, but we’re also getting replaced by younger and still better looking people when it comes to relationships. Especially intimate relationships.

No one wants to feel irrelevant, old, or like they are being replaced. Especially on a personal level. Which is why the cosmetic industry is booming so much right now. I say booming because… well… the millions of baby boomers getting of age now make that industry boom.

Aside from cosmetic products though, there are other things one can do to reverse aging. As my good friend Susan Bird – a beauty advisor and spokesperson for a breast enlargement serum company – would say: Cosmetics – although revolutionary – merely hide aging. True age-reversing is done through exercise, meditation, and diet.

In other words, cosmetics are a great way to deduct a decade off your looks, but to gain true age reversal, you have to be more proactive in taking care of yourself.

Exercise not only helps keep you fit, but has been shown to be a strong factor in keeping you look and feel young.

Meditation has been shown to reduce stress. Stress has been known to age people rapidly. In fact, it is so devastating that it is known as the silent killer.

Lastly, and probably most important yet: Diet. What is it you stuff in to the hole beneath your nose? It’s not about going on regular diets, but rather having healthy eating habits in general. So – as your mother used to tell you – eat your fruits and vegetables. They’re good for you!
